Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr Kedi Motingoe, is a psychiatrist specializing in Child and Adolescent psychiatry and has been working in this field for more than 15 years. After training at the Medical University of SA, she worked as a general practitioner before pursuing studies in general psychiatry. She has conducted extensive work in the public and private sector as a general psychiatrist emphasizing the importance of prevention and early intervention for best outcomes in adulthood. She is passionate about early parent child interventions as precursors for good mental health and resilience.

  • Preventative interventions: prevention and amelioration of infant, child and adolescent mental health disorders by supporting parents and families.
  • Hospital interventions: Admission of behaviourally disturbed children for investigations of biological contributors to mental illness and pharmacological interventions.
  • Parental guidance and psycho-education: This entails working with the system such as parents and alternative carers to create a conducive environment for children’s optimal development.
  • Mental Health Education: Advocacy work to promote mental wellness in schools across Johannesburg.
  • Primary Health Care Clinics Interventions: Treatment of children with psychiatric disorders across Gauteng. Worked as part of a multidisciplinary team rolling out interventions.
